We left our hotel promptly taking an Uber to our car rental. Easy drive to Cape Jervis, stopping briefly for some supermarket supplies. 

Some very pretty scenery along the way. 



Kangaroo Island ahead






Ferry boarding very well organised. Crossing a little bumpy. Quite a strong wind. Top deck you needed to stay close to a handrail for safety. Lovely to be on a vessel on the sea again. 

Disembarkation also very easy. Some sightseeing on our way to our accommodation at Kingscote. Settled in then took a quick tour of the town. Back in time for sundowners. 😁🍷🍷🍷 Dinner in-house tonight. Big day tomorrow.

Lots of roads are over-arched by these trees. Almost exclusive to KI. Narrow-leaved mallee - Eucalyptus cneorifolia

Well - the island is named for them so thought I'd better include at least one photo. We did see lots of dead ones!

The recently finished artwork on the silos at Kingscote showing images of the endangered Glossy Black Cockatoo, which became threatened on KI after the fires

  Day 3: Our first day on the River. We left Renmark behind, passed through the Paringa Bridge on schedule and headed down river. This lift bridge only opens twice a day at 9:30am and 2:30pm so very important we made our way down river promptly this morning The current played havoc in the now swollen river from the heavy rains months ago up in the upper reaches of the Darling River. Here's a map of the huge catchment of the Murray, Murrumbidgee, Darling Rivers. The basin covers 14% of Australia's land mass. Renmark is close to the border with NSW. We travelled abut one-fifth of the length of the Murray River. As you can see the Darling River flows a long way from the north until it reaches the Murray River at Wentworth. The Murrumbidgee and the Murray itself, from it's source, would also have above average flows from winter snow melt and summer rains. Monday 31 January - Waikerie to Morgan

Our coach was ready for our morning ashore after breakfast. Taking a route through the town, then following the line of the escarpment to a spot overlooking the river. Here are the now disused, beautifully decorated silos. Part of the Silo Trail.  Near the cliff top cafe. Silos clearly seen in the distance Further along we stopped at an unusual spot. Two quaint shopping opportunities and a cafe with an outside terrace overlooking the river, capping off the morning. Our floating hotel Pelicans are a constant on the river A cormorant trying to stay cool Lots of parakeets at our mooring in Morgan This former river transport boat is being restored So much of the river has a history dating back to when the river was the most efficient means of transporting goods. Then came the railway and river transport died. We reboarded Proud Mary and continued on down the river to Morgan. South Coast. Today was the day we were going to spend time on the beach. Today it turned out to be a case of the best laid plans etc......  Our morning started at Seal Bay. Lots of lovely activity males, females and pups. Best place to view seals in their natural environment. Looking down to Seal Bay Lots of seals along the beach Seals spend the majority of their time ashore recovering from days at sea The big bull in the earlier photo, finally went for a swim Next stop Raptor Domain. The threatened rain started but did not interrupt the amazing show. I was so excited to be able to glove a wedge tail eagle.
