Our coach was ready for our morning ashore after breakfast. Taking a
route through the town, then following the line of the escarpment to a spot
overlooking the river. Here are the now disused, beautifully decorated silos.
Part of the Silo Trail.

Further along we stopped at an unusual spot. Two quaint shopping opportunities and a cafe with an outside terrace overlooking the river, capping off the morning.

So much of the river has a history dating back to when the river was the most efficient means of transporting goods. Then came the railway and river transport died.We reboarded Proud Mary and continued on down the river to Morgan. It's such a relaxing trip having half a day exploring ashore and half a day cruising to our next stop.
We did have another tricky bend to negotiate. This full 90 deg left hand bend
Because of the fast flow the captain maneouvred the boat so that it was perpendicular to the bank, approaching the bend; nose in. So the current took us around the bend and we were then back on course to continue our journey to Morgan. |
